Woodland Train Depot

Woodland Depot

The Sacramento Valley Historical Railways is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the railroad history of the Sacramento Valley. SVHR owns and is restoring the Historic Woodland Train Depot located at 1120 Lincoln Avenue in Woodland. This structure was built in 1911 by the Southern Pacific Railroad, and was the third train depot constructed in Woodland. It was built in the Colonial Revival style with Craftsman elements and included a baggage room, office, two waiting rooms, and a large arcade. When fully restored, the depot and grounds will be used for a railroad history museum, a venue for cultural events, and a public meeting place. The Historic Woodland Train Depot is located at the corner of Sixth Street and Lincoln Avenue, across the street from the Woodland Police Department.

Also located at the depot are Southern Pacific steam locomotive 1233, Southern Pacific caboose 1156, Spreckels locomotive 1, a restored section tool house and other railroad artifacts.

The Sacramento Valley Historical Railways offers tours during its monthly work days and other times as listed on its website www.SVHR.org. Private tours can be arranged by appointment. We are always looking for new members for our all volunteer organization and sponsors who are interested in preserving railroad history.

Currently, we are raising funds to complete the restoration of the depot restrooms to meet historical and ADA guidelines. Donations are gratefully accepted and are tax deductible. With your help, we can bring this historic building back to life.
